Here is a little known prophecy in scripture.
It should be more obivous as it actually announces itself as a Prophecy.
But ask 10 people outside this board "what is the Kings Prophecy?" and see what they offer as a reply. Ask "which prophecy actually counsels kings to give Whiskey/Wine to those poor in spirit who would abuse such in "self-medication" to indulge in Drunkeness?"
See if you get anything more than a "blank" stare upon asking that.
Oh people are pretty quick to offer false "scriptural" prophecies, promoting ideas of fantasy as Prophecy and tagging a word of scripture or two to the same, and taken out of context, not that "CONTEXT" matters to those doing such, and they would rather many times to continue promoting lies even when brought to a Knowledge of Truth.
Such occurs even today with the person of David Koresh by those who would defame him as well as those who would place him on a pedastal, but both doing so in truth to their own exhaltation and promotion of thier own agendas.
In truth, we only have those few "recorded" words of David Koresh and the Testimony of his Living Surviving students to honestly try and decipher "WHAT WAS SAID?" TO know of "prophecy."
The Book of Revelation is given much consideration as it announces itself not only as Prophecy
King James Version: Revelation Chapter 1
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand
You see there, the 1st 3 verses of The Book of Revelation not only credits it's genre to that of Prophecy, but it OFFERS PROPHECY in the very 1st 3 verses, in verse 3! It offers 3 Prophecies actually...Just having read it, just now it is prophecied you will be blessed, that is if you consider the word "HE" in he that Readeth to be gender neutral in Greek Neuter, and therefore possibly interpreted as "HE or SHE."
Even if you lift the GREEK up as exact...(whatever happened to those Aramaic Texts used to Transliterate this anyway?) and you hold that it is Male, and then one could go as far to say that THAT prophecy pertains to a PARTICULAR MALE...well GO BACK, and humor a moment, but before continuing forward, GO BACK JUST A SECOND OR SO AND RE-READ THOSE 3 VERSES, DOING SO "ALOUD"
Go ahead, I want you to see something...
Now verse 3, ONE MORE TIME...ALOUD:
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand
Did you hear it? The sound of your own voice?
AND what was it saying? Did you not just hear the "WORDS OF" that "Prophecy?"
And now it becomes clear...the SECOND prophecy in Revelations is that THE HEARER of those words, and this time there is no doubt as "THEY" is applied to those whom hear...the Hearers will be blessed. Proverbs chapter one offers a similiar such prophecy specifically to YOUNG MALES, and if you have sons, You should see to it that they read one chapter a day in Proverbs everyday as Proverbs Chapter one prophecies several blessings to young men for reading the words of that book.
SO the second prophecy in The Book of Revelation is offered before JOHN ever records his Visitation! I have often in the past called my Daughter and left a voice mail of my reading those first verses of Revelation to her, that she might "HEAR" from the words of that Prophecy and consider such further to be blessed herself.
The 3rd PROPHECY in the Book of Revelation, is a blessing for those who "KEEP THE WORDS OF THIS BOOK." And while I am here, how much more important then should it be for us considering David Koresh a true Servant of God, to consider his own Students Testimony of "THE SEVENTH ANGELS" Message as told to and recalled by they themselves, how much more important should it be to elevate those testimonies above even our own ideas, to at the very minimum serve as a sounding board to the same?
How we keep the words of such a book, if we fail to apply our attentions to learning the same?
At least learning that which is available?
Very few PROPHECIES recorded in scripture actually ANNOUNCE THEMSELVES AS SUCH, so then, for those that do, SHOULD WE NOT THEN CONCERN OURSELVES TO AT THE VERY LEAST BECOME AWARE OF AND FAMILIAR WITH THE SAME?
Ask those ten others...1)"Which prophecy in scripture was given by a mother to her son?"
Ask yourselves for that matter...Do you know the answer?
Here is some more trivia:
2) Which passage of Scripture separates people by social class and announces acceptance of drunkeness on the part of some in society as an appropriate means for them, but not appropriate for some of higher social stature?
3) Which passage of Scripture promotes that those in a position who are not to engage in the use/abuse of alcohol should actually give the same to those who do at a time appropriate and give it to them in such portions that their MEMORIES FAIL THEM?
4) In which passage of Scripture is a Woman RECORDED as counseling a MAN that it is not proper for him to be DOMINATED by women?
Do you even believe such passages of Scripture exist? Sure doesn't sound politically correct does it?
What if I told you that all the same come from a single passage which is also offering counsel for a man to find himself a wife?
What if I told you that same passage is a PROPHECY of a particular relationship, as it prophecies the manner in which a very particular HUSBAND and WIFE will be known to each other, and in thier communities...
LOST? Do you think me making stuff up?
The answer to ALL these TRIVIA questions is the same...the passage:
King James Version: Proverbs Chapter 31
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8 Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
9 Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
