I did as much. I am very polite, and look for the first mention. This however, was ridiculous.
I do however usually place on my job application that I am unavailable in the timeframe without making issues why. Later if asked, then I politely explain. By law, they cannot persecute you, fire you, bring negative repercussions for your refusing to work in that timeframe, but most applications ask for available hours, and it should be established going through the door. Only one other time have I had issue, and the fact that it was established going through the door, awarded me the ability to both KEEP the job, and Keep Sabbath.
I have in the past not been given jobs, because I noted I could not work in that timeframe due to observing Sabbath, hence, I do not mention Sabbath up front, I do however establish I am unavailable in the timeframe. If it never surfaces to issue, well, then fine and good, if it does, well, I deal with it then, being polite, but firm in my position.
Five times, well, thats a little much. And while my manager may have felt the need to assert to me she was not a child, well, after having to deal with it yet again, and having dealt with it several times prior, I think was exactly my point.
