A bit late tonight, been watching videos...
anyway, this written earlier...
Shalom Shabbat.
The Shofar sounded here in NC just a bit ago.
I am exhausted, but blissfully peaceful. My Soul is at rest. I am so happy to be here with you this Sabbath. Last week was very chaotic. Some of you may recall last year, about this time frame and the month prior, I had outlined a cycle I go through of about 40 days or so. This has to do with priestly duties. I am not claiming to be a preist, I am emphasizing that such has to do with such duties. ONe day, perhaps we will get into more detail of such.
I have been dealing with a lot of pain this week. Alot, taking alot of pain pills too. I had gotten to where I had them on hand for emergencys and rarely touched them.
The good news is I got my new leg
This week! It's is wonderful! I already know I will have more mobility. I was out in the street the other night, perhaps even last, but certainly in the last 2, with my 3 sectional Staff. It is said the 3 sectional staff is one of the most if not the most advanced of all the Traditional Chinese weapons. Such is said not soley due to the amount of training needed just to wield the weapon in ones hands and to deal with the centrifugal forces involved, but moreso due to the very great use of footwork. The form has more footwork than most weapons sets. It requires much stamina and balance. I was getting pretty good prior to the accident.
I was and am working on the traditional "SHAOLIN" 3 sectional Staff form.
There are various forms out there, but this is one of the most popular. I can weild the weapon ok with my hands, but the footwork is difficult, even before the accident, but I was as I said, getting there. My Foot is a 12,000 dollar limb, and called a "CETERUS" foot. You can view it here if your interested in learning more about it: http://www.ossur.com/prosthetics/feet/ceterus
My temporary leg, would allow knee movement on a horizontal level, that is to say, I could not get any shifting or SWINGING movement in my hips, I had to literally pick up my leg and move it to turn to my left. Where my toes pointed, my knee pointed. No choice. NOt so with my new limb, I mean I am very excited! I don't have the footwork yet...but am getting there. Like I said, hands no problem, and now, feet, well getting better, in this video you can see the form I am working on...at 11-14 seconds in and ff, you can see he advances forward and simultaneously pivots 180, and then does so again. This type of movement is called "SCISSOR STEPPING," and can be used in some very effective empty hand techniques for covering against surprise attacks from the rear, like pushing choke holds etc.
While working out the other night, it was last night in fact, while working out, I actually started as this guy does here, doing figure 8's using two sections (not just one as in my "JUNE 7, 2009" Video). And then he follows into Scissor stepping on a forward advance. I ACTUALLY DID THE FIRST SCISSOR STEP!!
I did clumsily, BUT I DID IT! I was so happy!
I am so Happy! By the way, in the beginning of the video above those figure 8's using 2 sections of the staff, is actually an attack to the feet and lower limbs, and every time you swirl the figure 8, to one side, you strike 3 times, twice with one stick, (the very tip, as this is where all the momentum is) and once with the other, then you repeat on the other side. If you listen closely in the first seconds, you can hear the cadence just before he speeds up..Tap..TAP,TAP,....Tap...TAP,Tap. Sorry, I am hyped up again.
I have however been in much pain. I wasn't expecting such, but it seems I have to break into this new leg as I did the last one. You may recall my noting the pain forced a limp, well, it does so again. It is so tight, it took me nearly an hour to get it on today. I would request your prayers in this regard, I have seen the power of your prayers in the past and the influence you collectively have with YHWH, and am convinced such is not, and should not be a "LAST RESORT" but the first option one should utilize.
There have been a lot of other exciting things this week as well, but the pain pills have my head swimming.
Thank you for your prayers, to all coming here seeking the Truth of JAH' and his Righteousness, I pray you find it...
And Happy Sabbath,
-Benjamin
P.S. I have been told to note a thing to you, I will post it in the next post in this thread. Also, thought you might like this guy, he's pretty impressive, this is a WUSHU competition, Wushu is a SPORT, not a STYLE, but his guy is AWESOME!
SHALOM,
-Steven
