SUNDAY GENESIS 36 vs 1-8.
Today is Sunday August 23, 2009. It is approx 6:20 PM. Bible study
was late today, about 11 am to noon. Usually I am outside in study at
my spot in the shade for breakfast at 10 am.
For you, it is later, most likely Sunday, August 30, 2009. But I can’t
say with any certainty as I have yet to
actually speak with Wendi about posting these in daily increments that
you may check the DB on a daily basis to follow along in a daily
fashion. I encourage you to read the chapters yourself, and
hopefully prior to my comments upon them. I will title the posts as
read, that is, had I read 2 chapters today, the title would have the
day of the week, then GENESIS CHPs 36, 37, but I only read one, so, it
is as it is.
Today has been a day of study on many things. It is the first day of
the week, I have fence posts I want to set, and am working, or trying
so daily upon the projects. Cedar grows all over the region here, so
I have the luxury of cedar posts which I cut myself, some cut already,
but from trees in the area, and they last a while. I will try to keep
personal thoughts to a minimum in these studies to focus on the actual
content of scripture, but I find that often in life, the physical
realities accent the greater spiritual realities and events in our
daily lives often are reflected back in our meditations on the
spiritual aspects whether it be a passage of scripture read, a blog, a
moment of prayer, or whatever, the Spirit often likes to assert
herself in our daily lives to remind us we are not alone.
Genesis, the BOOK, Was written by the shepherd, fugitive, deliverer,
and prophet, MOSES.
Evidence to this end is recorded by Jewish Historians, popular belief
and even in scripture in Exodus 20:24, Exodus 17:14, 24:4-7, 34:27.
Moses wrote at least one of the Psalms, and is widely believed to have
written JOB, which is considered to be THE OLDEST book of ALL
SCRIPTURE.
In Chapter 36, note that the Generations of Esau are noted. Here in
verse one, we are told that
ESAU is also EDOM. That is to say that later in scripture, when we
encounter the LAND of EDOM, or the people called Edomites, we are
talking about the descendants of Esau.
This will be important later as we study, but it is important now too.
Edom, later in scripture, moves to the land to the North, into RUSH,
pronounced R-OO-Sh. This land is today the land we call RUSSIA. Now
I don’t know how many of you remember the cold war, but I am certain
many of you do. I recall constant fear of “THE BUTTON” being pushed,
a slang phrase referring to the start of nuclear war, in the constant
decade old Cold War at the time of my childhood. Such was the topic
of movies, “RED DAWN” and others, “THE DAY AFTER” and music as even
Ozzy sang in his megahit “KILLER OF GIANTS” from his “ULTIMATE SIN”
album, “If the button is pushed there’ll be nowhere to run.” The
whole world was in fear of the cold conflict between the U.S. and
Russia, much as it is today with Kim Jong Ill in Korea, or with the
situation in the Mideast with Iran.
Many place Russia in scripture as the Bear of Daniel because they are
represented today by a bear, much like many do China as the Dragon of
Revelation 13 because they are often associated with a dragon or
dragons. Actually there are many in their culture and they are
considered gods of the east by the Chinese, but such is not our
concern here. I don’t necessarily agree with such stereotypes being
symbolicly interpreted from scripture upon such lands by this group or
that, I am not disagreeing here either, but rather making you aware of
such views out there in prophetic teachings. I am not endorsing the
teachings, but still, with Russian Nuclear missles that never were
disarmed, dismantled and are still out there, with Russia recovering
from the fall of the Berlin Wall, some even preach a Miracle worker
will rise to be the Anti-Christ from that region. Such is widely
believed, and promoted in the fiction of Tim LaHaye’s Left Behind
Series, such is implied in the anti-Christ named Nicholai.
Personally, I think fiction is promoted on a weekly basis from the
pulpits of this world in the form the rapture doctrine from many who
promote LaHaye as well. Still, with all the hype, all the hysteria,
what if someone is actually right? Moreso, just the same, don’t you
want to Know what Prophecy says of RUSSIA?
Don’t you want to understand why they would now all these thousands of
years later be significant and why if they are in the place to play
the Bad Guys in all this prophecy, they may find themselves
disfavoured of God? HMMM…I want to know. Don’t You…?
