Sabbath Study 1 Sivan
“Seventy times seven and The Man of Sin”
I look forward to returning to the daily bible studies, but felt this time should emphasize the
Events corresponding, namely the High days of the month of Sivan, the Hebrew Seventh Month.
1 Sivan, again is Rosh Hashannah or the Hebrew NEW YEAR, one of two. This is the CIVIL NEW YEAR, as
the calendar does not go back to ZERO, but next month will be the eighth of the Hebrew Calendar, not
the first, and the actual NEW YEAR, MONTH ONE, begins in Abib, or Nissan depending on which name you use for the month, but for reference sake, it is the Passover season. 10 Sivan, is the holiest day of the year on the Hebrew calendar, Yom Kippur, or the DAY OF ATONEMENT. Scripture records a mandatory fast from sunset of 9 Sivan to Sunset of 10 Sivan is ordered by God with stiff penalties for any
who would violate that Sabbath by not fasting, or by working during the timeframe. A suggestion to those with children coming to observe such things: It would be easier to “INCLUDE” them, than to force things upon them, i.e. to teach them throughout the year, allowing them to learn, demonstrate such learning, and look forward to such events with anticipation. I don’t celebrate “Christmas” anymore, for the obvious reasons of it’s pagan origins, and the fallicy it promotes as being the birthday of Christ.
When you tell people you are no longer going to celebrate Christmas, but will begin observing the feast days as outlined in scripture, they act like “Man, you’re gonna miss out!” Such simply is not true, and when dealing with children, it should be emphasized, you’re not losing a DAY of celebration, but gaining many more. I don’t observe Easter anymore, for the same reasons I don’t observe Christmas, due to it’s Paganistic roots, and the fallicies it promotes against the true calendars and events of the season.
So, while it would seem I am losing the festivities of 2 days out of the year, when you consider Passover and it’s events are about a week, then in June or so, you have another Holiday with Shavout, or Pentecost, and again now in this time frame following Yom Kippur for 8 days you have the Feast of Tabernacles beginning 15 Sivan, Sure, there are two days out of the year I am no longer celebrating as holidays, but now I have got about 20 more to celebrate than I use to, so I trade two days for more than two weeks. IF ANYTHING, I am gaining holidays, not losing them. But I gain so much more, should I marry again, and have more children, I gain the integrity not to lie to my children of elven fairys clad in red parkas and boots coming down the chimney to reward them with an advertisers boquet of the popular toys of the day. I don’t have to lie to them of mystical bunnies, and later defend the day when they grow into maturity, by passing it off as a religious rite to a holy God who finds no honor in the day as it is promoted. Nor will I by such example have to by my actions teach them to one day lie to their children in similar fashion. And should they come to a knowledge of the truth, that the festivities are not indeed “HOLY DAYS” of the God I proclaim to serve, but that of some false deity, a fertility goddess, when they should come to THAT KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH, I do not have to show them cowardice in the face of peer pressure, to compromise a profession of hailing the truth as supremely important, to go about embracing lies when confronted with the truth, to maintain the comfort of acceptance from the masses who go about blindly doing likewise. No, My children, will know the truth, and they will be just fine, and it will not be they, but the children of the world who are missing out, missing out not only on the truth, but of a father who would promote the same by action, and not just lip service, and missing out more than two weeks of holidays and feasting each year.
