Greetings and happy Sabbath. May your day be blessed in the LORD.
I apologize for the delay in greeting you. Yesterday evening, just before sunset, my computer abruptly went dead. It appears to need a new power supply. I have just now been able to get online with an old computer that I still had in a closet.
I had something I was preparing to post for a Sabbath study, discussing Halloween, its origins, and the controversy that surrounds it in various Christian circles. However, it is on the hard drive of the computer that is not in operation at the moment. In light of that, I recommend doing a bit of research on your own regarding the origins of Halloween, and what Scripture has to say about participating in such events.
A few key thoughts, in my opinion - (1) Scripture tells us to let every man be decided in his own mind on matters of difference in opinion, and (2) Scripture tells us not to be a stumbling block to our brethren in Christ, (3) Scripture tells us to be the salt and light to the world.
Some participate fully, not caring about the origins. Others have decided it doesn't matter. On the other hand there are those who turn out their lights and close their windows for fear of a trick-or-treater coming to their door. Still others use it as an opportunity to witness to those who do come knocking.
I'm not telling you whether to participate in Halloween or not, or to what extent you should or should not participate. It is a matter that you need to seek prayerfully between yourself, and GOD.
Happy Sabbath
