Posted by Michelle on 10/15/2007, 1:15 pm 1) our #1 thank you goes out to all the wonderful fans who attended and supported the fifth annual shakedown at etown. without fan support our sport would not exist....all behalf of the 130 teams in attendance we thank you for buying our product (excitement)...racing in front of a packed house is what dragracers dream off and thanks to all who attended. 2) the racers who attended. a big thank you to all the racers who attended the race yesterday....you came from over 14 states, 6 countries and 3 continents.....the racers truly made this event special...you set records in almost every catagory, you got in 6 rounds of racing in just one short day, there were no accidents and NOT ONE clock box touched the whole day.....great driving and even better competition round after round. many fans told me they just didn't want to leave their seats, not even for a min. thanks for the memories! 3) the SPONSORS. over $60k raised thru sponsorships making shakedown 5 the biggest $$$$ one day show in the world, all made possible by the generous donations....most who donated are just race fans who want to support the heads up cause...for this we thank you and 4) ETOWN. the staff at etown also set a record yesterday...the etown staff got in 2 full qualifying rounds and 4 rounds of eliminations all before curfew...a truly remarkable feat and we'd like to break down the parts involved... a) office personel...Michele M...last couple of weeks michele put in hundreds of hours in support of the race...just want to let the world know michele is the back-bone of the event and I could not do this race without her help....thankyou. Debbie, Stephanie, Stacy, Mrs Becker and all the other wonderful office staff (sorry/names) you guys are the best in the country at doing this...also keeping in mind there are other races and series that these folks work on....thank you to all. b) Race Operations and track prep. Can any dispute Etown had one of the finest track surfaces in the country (not including nat events)????? AWESOME JOB GUYS!!! eddie krawic fresh of running the power ade pro stock bike tour jumped right back into his old shoes and directed this race to a screaming success....the numbers told us this race prob would not get done but eddie and his staff worked their a$$es off and got it done! hats off. wayne paul, from parking 130 rigs to holding down the back end of the track (scales/tech/rules) you represented etown, the nhra and dragracing in a very positive manner...your experience is 2nd to none. i always said if I had to be in a fox hole with somebody it would have to be WP. lets not forgot ronnie and the boys at the head of the staging lanes, the kept the show moving at a great pace, great job! TECH: bob kasper you did a wonderful job and set a record of your own, we luv you bob kasper and hope you will do the next 100 shakedown races. walter frey you wore sooo many hats...tech, announcing and cheer leader..thank you. c) SECURITY. i don't think there is a track in the country that has the security force we have at Etown! what the racers and fans don't know is there were security meetings before the event...there was a plan in place...security had a job and the job was to get 130 teams into the park, get them safely organized, protect racer property (millions) and provide safety and structure to the thousands of spectators who attended shakedown five....security made this event a pleasure to attend...i suggest all racers/fans thank an etown security personel for simple things we take for granted...there was no gridlock, easy to get to and from pits, easy to get to stage lanes, no un authorized parking...all the little things that we take for granted....other tracks use local police departments for an event the size of shakedown....thanks! 4) The entire Napp family. A big thank you to ownership at Etown...special thanks to Alex Napp whom worked very closely with us on the shakedown...thanks for your support thru out the year! 5) I would like to thank my loving family and my co-workers who hung in there with me, especially the last few weeks when i could not be reached because I was zoned in on only one issue...the Shakedown. I luv and thank you all for your loving support and tolerence. we will sign off know...there are more folks that have to be thanked and we will do so on this thread...THIS IS A THANK YOU THREAD, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO THANK ANYBODY you'd like to recognize...Dave

hello all...it is the monday morning after shakedown 5...whew what a weekend. while it is fresh in my mind just wanted to thanks some of the folks involved with the race...there were sooo many and forgive me if i forgotten someone/something.
hope you enjoyed the show! without sponsor support shakedown would not be possible...
lastly this year at shakedown we asked for volunteers to help keep the race moving...class captains...karate john mazzarana handled pro mod, mike reynolds and his crew handled heavy street, dave o donnel and robbie kept radial tire flyin back to the lanes...you guys are a big part of why this race was completed and I can't thank you enough...we should expand this program in the future...as with any big race there were several problems that we were able to resolve thanks to communication from racer to team captains who then were in touch with the race director for a solution...we couldn't solve all problems but we did solve most!
3) Mike Ashley....NHRA funny car driver and 2 time pro mod world champion Mike Ashley....thanks for being our 1st ever grand marshall!
you did not dis-appoint...not only can this guy drive but he is a great announcer also!
