Rachael:
I had quit for over 1 year in the past (it was a long time ago though). I noticed something that Bilbo mentioned in my own experience. It took me about a week (max) before I was completely used to it again, like I had never quit. When most people start smoking for the first time, it can take quite a while to get completely used to it. However, when I started again for the second time, I was completely used to it much faster.
The first couple of days, you will experience dizzyness and possible sickness. I would say you should have 1 pack of lights at first, but that's about all you will need before you're back to normal. Then you can move back up to regulars without much of a problem.
Good luck!

: Yeah, I felt the same when
: I restarted. I think if
: they can every smoker
: should stop for a long
: period of time at some
: point. Starting
: smoking, and knowing
: what smoking and
: addiction are like, and
: then quitting long
: enough to get past the
: cravings and withdrawals
: is hard to pull off, but
: I figure it's the only
: way anyone can ever make
: a really well informed
: decision about whether
: being a smoker is worth
: it for you. I know I
: love smoking a lot more
: this time around, having
: chosen addiction,
: knowing what it was like
: with my eyes wide open.
:
: The first day I
: restarted I chained two
: cigarettes at about four
: PM, they felt kinda
: nice, but made my mouth
: feel disgusting. Then I
: felt really good, till
: about half an hour later
: when I was sick, I was
: inhaling like a long
: term smoker, and my body
: wasn't ready for the
: nicotine. The next day
: I had three, but spaced
: them out more, one in
: the afternoon and two
: well spaced out in the
: evening. Very nice, and
: didn't feel sick at all.
:
: The third day I planned
: to hold out till
: lunch-time, but I ended
: up needing to have my
: first right after
: breakfast. That was the
: day it got really,
: really good again. I
: ended up smoking a pack
: and half that day,
: because they just felt
: so good.
:
: After that it was pretty
: much back to where I'd
: been before I quit in
: every regard.
:
: So my advise would be go
: very easy the first day
: or two - probably just
: one light cigarette the
: first day, but it should
: only take a few days to
: get back in the saddle
: properly.

: I'm thinking of starting
: again after stopping 5
: years ago because I
: still miss cigarettes
: and especially nicotine.
: I also miss the
: confidence and style it
: gave me. Has anyone else
: re-started and how did
: it go. Is it best to
: start with a
: "light"
: cigarette or go straight
: in with normal strength?
