To put it less combatively, S does have a very good point. If you think your wife would like being a smoker, then by all means suggest she try it, but it is better to make sure she understands about addiction first. You don't want her getting hooked, without realizing how easily it would happen, and how hard it is to stop once hooked, and resenting you for getting her to start without making sure she understood what was likely to happen.
