Most people are hooked by the first few cigarettes and then are slowly (or quickly) reeled in by the addictive quality of nicotine biochemistry into long or permanent addiction. Also, most new smokers do not realize that they are addicted until long after they are (at most after a few weeks or a few packs). Your friends are addicted. The addiction becomes both physical craving for nicotine and psychological craving for the act of smoking, which provide pleasure and relaxation, but at a price.
A tobacco marketer once said something like: "If I can get them to smoke 2 cigarettes, I'll have a customer for life".
From your message, where you wrote that you think it looks cool, and think about smoking every day, you are even less likely to be just a social, take-it-or-leave-it smoker.
Very few people remain just "social" smokers.
If you start, my guess is that you will need to hide it and sneak around. Then you will feel guilty about both smoking and about sneaking around.
Don't try it. Wait a few years, at least.
