They say nicotine is supposed to reduce appetite a little - and I think that's largely true, since I increased my smoking from about 6-9 a day to about 25 a while back, I've lost some weight without even trying and usually I notice I really don't feel like eating just after a cigarette, but the other day something really weird happened.
I was trying to go as long as I could without a cigarette, just as an experiment, as I like to do at least once every couple of weeks, and I hadn't eaten much either that day - I got to about three and a quarter hours before I absolutely could not stop myself from smoking, and before I smoked I didn't feel hungry at all, but as soon as I had my cigarette, my stomach started rumbling and I got massively, overwhelmingly hungry.
I guess I'd kinda needed to eat for a while, but the nicotine withdrawals had crowded out everything else so I didn't even notice.
It's amazing how the addiction can totally overpower your brains ability to let you know you it's time for something like food that you do genuinely absolutely need in order to survive, just to tell you you need something you won't die without, that you only feel like you need.
