Yeah - I used to smoke Marlboro Lights, and then just tried a pack of the Menthols one day out of curiosity, and I just couldn't go back. I like the taste of them, but mainly I just find a good Menthol so much more pleasurable and satisfying.
I think the variance in quality is probably because some packs are stale - A good pack is really fantastic, but the odd bad pack tastes of almost nothing, and only really serves to kill the cravings without providing any real pleasure - I never had that problem with Marlboro Lights, one pack was always much the same as another, and I figure that was because Marlboro Lights are so much more popular than the Menthols, meaning everywhere sells so many that the packs don't sit around on the shelves long enough to get stale. It might be some other reason entirely, but that's just what I figure.
