if addiction wasn't an issue, i too sincerely doubt i'd give smoking up. for me its as much a social thing as any thing else. i like the pleasant feelings, the relaxing and stimulating effects smoking affords me just as much. it was and remains a lifestyle i choose.

: Basically if going without
: cigarettes were no
: harder than going
: without something else
: you really like, like
: chocolate, or listening
: to your favourite band
: or whatever, would that
: change your smoking
: habits?
:
: For my part, I think it
: would, but only a
: little. I still
: wouldn't stop, or even
: cut down all that much -
: some days if I didn't
: need to worry about
: getting even more
: addicted I might even
: smoke more than I
: currently do. But I'd
: probably space my
: cigarettes differently -
: I'd probably cut it out
: almost entirely in the
: evening, and smoke a bit
: less before work, and it
: would be nice to be able
: to get through a meeting
: at work, or a long train
: journey without needing
: to worry about finding
: time for a smoke.
:
: But I think I'd be even
: less likely to ever quit
: than I am now - if it
: were controllable
: there'd be no point at
: all to quitting.
