Question about increasing distance

I am FINALLY getting the ball in the air consistantly, 6 lessons and 5 group lessons later 9-), but I am not happy with my distance or club head speed. I try and swing as fast as I can and I still do not get that "whoosh" sound. I am only getting about 60 yards with my 7 iron and about 80 yards on a roll with my 5 wood.
Right now I am practicing with an inexpensive set of Prince clubs until....(I can afford better LOL)
