Posted by Sarcasma on 3/25/2002, 10:20 pm I'm pretty sure there are better programs out there as well, which I'd love to hear about from other wiser posters. --Previous Message--
Give PopUpKiller a try. It's not the best program, but if you have just one site (i.e. this board) that's making your life hell with popups it does the job. You may have to enter some info about the specific popup ads, but once it knows what urls/domains to kill, it does okay until the ad company switches over (usu. about 2 weeks). Then you have a few popups, add them in, and are back to blissful reading/posting, with the occasional *KABLOOEY* of popup destruction in the background.
: Sort of. I finally got sort of caught up with
: the message board on Saturday, mostly
: because I had a LOT of time and the popup
: ads were leaving me alone. I saw Alias'
: message about missing me (and a bunch of
: others), I thought it was really sweet.
: I sat down tonight to catch up again, and
: what happens? A popup ad EVERY TIME I
: OPEN A PAGE!!!!!!! On a few posts toward
: the top, they ganged up on me, opening TWO
: ads for each post! Between that and the
: recent proliferation of messages, I can't
: keep up.
: I must concede to the superior posting
: abilities of the dedicated NMDers. I will
: keep up as I can, but I tend to give up
: for the evening when the ads chase me.
: They're almost worse than nightmares!
