As you all know, this is the time of year when the salmon and trout we seek all summer long in the open lake, run the various tributaries. Not to be overlooked is the salmon run taking place on Sandy Creek just west of Rochester. Living on the creek affords me a great view of the runs as the fish move upstream. For the past few weeks a good number of salmon, browns and steelhead have been holding in the area from the creek mouth to the south end of the island. Talking to fishermen as they pass by in their boats, they report that they are doing quit well on stick baits, casting spoons and of course egg sacks fishing the creek. I live just south of the parkway bridge which affords me a good view of the action and have seen a good number of fish being caught. Upstream, at the Rt.19 bridge the creek shallows to pools and riffles. There has been a good number of out of state fisherman in that area and upstream past the West Fork bridge. Eggs sacks seem to be the pick of the day. When fishing in the shallows please respect the privlege that the landowners have extended to you by allowing you access to the creek. Best of Luck!!!!!
