i'll be completely honest with you skip. I have been fishing the DSR for almost 20 years and have had many experiences of a lot of fish in dsr and none anywhere else. for instance this past salmon season. the water was low and everybody claimed no fish. meanwhile i was killing them in the douglaston. the funny thing is, is that half way through the day the fish would go back downstream and then run back up the next day. i have seen this so many times. and i always check the reports the day i fish, and they are usually right on with the action rate. i am a season pass holder at the dsr and i will always get it every year. otherwise it is 30 dollars per day to fish. i think that is a little out of line, but hey, it is what it is. i have my season pass and i'm happy. i feel as if people who don't want to pay to fish douglaston should just stop b###hin about it. there are plenty of other places to fish. but i will tell you, i have hit the hardest and freshest runs of coho king and steelhead down there. and when i've hit runs in other parts of the river, it's just not the same. it's well worth every penny i spend on my season pass. this past year i hit a run of cohoes in early spetember that was unbelievable. the whole river on either side of any island was thick with cohoes splashing on top of each other. yet, the next day, there was nothing in the blackhole, or anywhere else upstream. the fish dropped back down and ran again the next day. i had a blast. If you'd like, i would be happy to send you pictures of the salmon i've caught in my bathing suit and no shirt in mid august while no one's even dreaming about salmon fishing. you know alsso, the biggest salmon run i've ever seen was in the 3rd week in august back in the late 90's. and i have seen many big runs enter this river. there is nothing like hitting a fresh run of salmon or steelhead in the dsr. hey skip, tight lines and best of luck
