Trophy season has started and that is exaxctly what you would get. Two trips last weekend fishing off Meyers reef and Hamburg in 15-24 ft of water produced 5 fish over 6lbs. with the largest, a whopping 6.78lbs., with numerous 4-5lb. fish. Tube jigs and drop-shot rig with Poorboy natural gobies was the way to go.The gobie and white tubes proved to be the colors of choice for these active fish. Remember you can only keep a fish over 20" and if you can find it in your heart let that fish live also. This special season is just that, special. Enjoy the sport of catching and releasing these huge bass. They don't get any bigger or abundant than right now. A thursday trip with live bait (golden shiners) was just as productive.
