Bait to catch the big ones in Keuka

Hey - I'll be at my favorite lake, Keuka, next weekend and would like to know what bait I should use to catch bass or trout. I like to drift a line along the bottom while in a boat ... what do you suggest? Or am I such a rookie I have no hope?
