Guided Bass TripsWednesday I had Roger and his son Derek for an absolutely beautiful day on Black Lake. Roger and Derek are from Denver, Colorado and actually drove here on there way to Maine where Derek is going to college. They had heard about the great bass fishing on Black Lake and the lake did not disappoint them.
They caught an equal amount of both largemouth and smallmouth, totaling approximately 30 fish between 2 and 4 lbs. Not bad for two trout fisherman who hardly ever fish for bass. We began the morning fishing topwaters then switched to wild shiners which produced most of the largemouth. In the afternoon I put them on the smallmouth with live crayfish. The crayfish bite is picking up. This to me is the most enjoyable way to fish Black Lake. Those smallmouth pull and pull on that light tackle so these guys really enjoyed the action.
If you are looking for a relaxing bass fishing experience be sure to check out my site at www.guidedbasstrips.com and give me a call. From now through late September is the best time to fish Black Lake, 1000 Islands, and Lake Ontario.
Good fishing,
Randy Yager
