Trip on Oneida today (10/3). Water temps in the low 60's and sunny. When the lake calmed down, there was some light schooling activity. The fish would strike a Spit-N Image or a Pop-R. Long casts were crucial.
I also had some great action on tubejigs and grubs on super shallow rock flats (2ft or less). It is hard not to get hung on the shallow rocks, but if you pay attention, the results can be great. There was also some activity with the smallies on ledges in about 12-15ft deep. The Fall bite is progressing nicely, and I expect solid fishing to remain the norm.
