This has been a busy weekend. Tom and Tommy fished with me on Saturday, and we found that the water temperature had dropped 5-6 degrees overnight. This slowed the early bite, but as it started to warm, 8 yr. old Tommy popped a 4 pounder and a 3+ pounder along with 15 other medium sized bass. Meanwhile his dad, Tom, managed to boat an equal amount of nice bass. Most fish were caught on Bass Pro Stikos in watermelon seed or greenpumpkin.
Melody and I went scouting for Sunday fishing areas and managed 25 -30 nice bass in 1 1/2 hours.
Tom and Anthony (another of Tom's sons), got started around 8:30 on Sunday morning, and we switched to tubes. Tom managed an honest 5+ pound bass and a solid 4 pounder mixed in with a bunch of 1-2 pounders. Anthony caught several nice bass, then switched to panfish so he could have a few to take home. He kept about 12-15 nice sunfish and bluegills, which will give him and his friends a nice fish fry. We finished by hitting a few points with the tubes and boating some nice bass.
The water had stayed warmer overnight, and the fish were in an active mood. We used Bass Pro Tender Tubes in melonpepper.
In all, it was a great weekend on the water.
Good fishing, wear your life vest and maintain a proper lookout while underway.
