Tuesday we started toward the center of the lake and the results were pretty much the same as Monday evening. We made long drifts and would catch several in an area then it would slow down. Several times both John and Susan would cast the ultralight rigs and catch bass and huge gills and sunfish. They both caught big pickerel on the light rigs and that was fun.
We planned to fish a different lake Thursday, but with the marginal weather patterns passing in the area, it seemed smart to stay on Honeoye where we could take cover in the cottage if the need arose. We ran to the south end of the lake and as we were making a drift north, watched the college boat shocking fish. As the water warmed and the activity level picked up so did the catch ratio. By the end of the day John and Susan had boated at least 90-100 bass, several trophy panfish and a couple of pickerel.
Overnight low temperatures and marginal weather cancelled Friday, but the water stayed fairly warm and the bass resumed their bite on Saturday. The warm weather we had earlier has the weeds growing and several beds are quite high. Fish can be located anywhere from a few inches to 10-12 feet of water.
Good fishing, wear your life jacket,
