We spent five hours on the water yesterday and with several boats fishing near us, saw other anglers boat two bass, while we managed 20. My clients had never fished plastic baits, so they did very well, along with losing several bass in the weeds.
I can't stress the importance of fishing slow, slow and slower. It is your natural tendency to speed up when the bite is off, but that is just the conditions where doing the opposite will reward you. Also, when bass get picky, downsize to some 4 inch baits.
July is starting out good and I expect a great season ahead. Be safe, wear your life vest, maintain a proper lookout.
