Posted by mdonnell The kindergartner is also a tongue thrust, and the local university tested him, and recommended waiting. And that raises another questions for me because I have not had alot of experience with tongue thrust. Does a lisp result from a tongue thrust or is it totally unrelated?? Also, what do you do if the child sticks out the tongue a little during s and z, but it sounds fine. Do you accept it and dismiss, or worry about correct placement even though it sounds correct anyway? Thanks, Michelle

The third grader's mother says that it really doesn't effect him socially/emotionally, and he does not want to go to speech. He was upset that I pulled him just to listen to him. There is no lisp, mom also had a reverse swallow when she was little. I am just not sure if I send home excercises with her, if that will trult help, or if she needs to take him to a dentist/orthodontist.
