
Posted by dawnslp As far as the Kindergarten child goes, I wouldn't worry about them. If you believe a non-SLP wouldn't pick up on the lisp, it's not really an issue. Even a slight lisp is normal as everyone makes their sounds in their own way. However, tongue thrust does not usually correct itself at this age in my experience. Also, if the child's sounds are not an issue, treating tongue thrust at school is not recommended. My daughter is developing a lisp now because of how far her teeth have moved from her tongue thrust. She never had one before and she is now 4. However, a lisp cannot cause a tongue thrust.

He will probably need to go to the dentist. Hopefully they will treat it and not just recommend braces which will only be a temporary fix.
