I am working with a first grader who has been in speech since kindergarten and knows everything there is to know about nodules, using her "good voice," good vocal habits, etc. BUT...does NOT apply these things outside of the therapy room...therefore sounds hoarse all the time! Her family is aware of the issue and tries to encourage good voice use, but doesn't want to "nag" her about it...b/c they would have to remind her every second of everyday if they yelled at her everytime she used a "bad voice." I feel helpless b/c I LOVE voice therapy...but am stuck with this one. She can go on and on about all of the things she SHOULD do...but just never does them. Right after therapy she will run out the door...yelling ADIOS!! Is she a case of dismissal due to plateau? OR, any advice?? Please help.
