I am in the process of evaluating a 7 year old who sounds very hoarse/breathy...is aphonic at times while reading outloud and speaking. She cannot sustain "ah" w/out breaking and has trouble with sustained airflow, prod. /sh/ and prolonged dialogue. Dad has tried to take her to the ENT, but the ENT dismissed my report and did not pay attention to my voice concerns (she sees him for tubes). Do you have any advice on what to do? Should I begin seeing her w/out an ENT eval...if so, what should I begin working on?
