There is a pacing sheet in the shared materials that has the boxes for using appropriate rate and pacing and one long box for talkign too fast. I've used it to introduce the idea of fast and slow rate.
Another technique I do is I put out different colored poker chips as visuals regarding when they are using an appropriate rate and when they are not. I use this for carry over for speech soudns as well. At the end of answering the question, discussion, or reading a paragraph we look at the chips to see how they did. It puts more ownership on them and doesn't force me to say slow down every 5 seconds.
