I was told today by our preschool SLP that I will be getting a new kiddo next year that has a tongue thrust. My understanding is that a tongue thrust usually corrects itself by the age of 6. This kiddo is 4. He is having difficulty with all of the strident sounds. Does anyone know what ASHA's position is on treatment of tongue thrusts and has anyone read any good research about them lately. I would like to hear your thoughts. Seems pointless to address artic errors until tongue placement and swallow are corrected.
