I just got a K student - screened her and she produces /s/ and /z/ with a strange nasal "gurgle." All other sounds are fine! This does not make sense to me since airflow for sh, ch, etc, are fine. She can produces a /s/a dn /z/ in isolation perfectly, but as soon as it is paired with another sound it gurgles in her nose. I do not see any evidence of a cleft - and that would affect other sounds oto. Do you think this is some sort of weird habit?
