
Posted by spk2me For the /s/ and /z/: if they can do 'ts' practice lots of final 'ts' words until they do it consistently. Then start adding vowels to the end...lots of nonsense words. Play with it! Like itsy, bitsy, ootsy, bootsy etc. Also use a really skinny straw (like a coffee stirrer) and have them produce the prolonged 'ts' until they are just making an /s/ sound. It works great to have them visualize the direction of the airstream! Good luck.

For the /ch/ sound I paid words that end in 't' with a word that starts with 'sh'...hot shoe, nut shell, not show etc. You can do it with nonsense combinations or real words and after lots of practice they should be able to get the 'ch' sound.
