I am an Occupational Therapist working with a 4 year old child who is functioning at a 9-12 month level. Diagnosis is Developmental Delay (but seems to be something genetic). He constantly mouths everything and cannot be re-directed. There is no appropriate play with toys. This child mouths everything from books to furniture to carpet. I have tried oral stim and some sensory techniques, but no progress. I feel this behavior is due to low cognitive status. I need to get this child out of the oral mouthing phase. Please Help!!!
