18 NMMRA Sprinters took to the high banked 3/8ths mile THUNDER SPEEDWAY under clear skies Saturday Night. #22m Grant's Jess Baker piloted his NEW MEXICO Spring & Suspension sponsored ride from a 6th Place starting Position into the lead midway into the 25 Lap Feature. #21p Polesetter Paul Whitehead had lead until then. Baker had lost the August 1st Feature to Current Points Leader #19 Ronnie Smith when Jesse went high around a Lapper and Smith went Low to capture that Feature. Not to be undone, Smith put his RANDYS ELECTRIC Sponsored ride on Jesse's Donkey but this time had to follow him to the Checker. 3rd was #61x Grants' Bo Baker followed by #74a Arizona's Derick Williams, #21p Whitehead, #61a Chuck Buckman, #93 Jon Taylor, #7a Brian Hosford, #62 Bill Mitchell and #2g Terry Goodwin rounding out the Top 10. 1st Heat Winner was Bo Baker over #2 Stephen Nix, Whitehead & #7nm Rick Johnson. 2nd Heat saw #61a Buckman over Jesse Baker, #26 Randy Smith & Taylor. Capturing the 3rd Heat was #40x Scott Box ahead of Ronnie Smith, #F-2 AZTEC's L. C. Kesterson & Hosford. #22m Jesse Baker moved into 2nd Place in Points, 206 pts. to #19 Ronnie Smith's 222 pts. #40x Box dropped to 3rd with 200 as was DNF with a flat after tagging the wall in the Feature. #61x Bo Baker moved into 4th with 183 pts. as #7nm dropped to 173 as also DNF'ed in the Feature. Sunday's Race of the 2 Day Special saw Rain Clouds move in & by 6 pm we were Rain Out. DARN! NMMRA closes out the 2009 Season with a Sept. 26th Race again in SHOW LOW, Az. Take Care, jwzinter
