Sandia Motor Speedway invites you to the 8th Annual Salsa 100 and Hot Pepper 40.
Our feature race will be the United States Late Models. These roaring machines can be seen competing through the summer at many tracks across the Southwest. The Salsa 100 is a 100 lap race that ends the season for the USLMA. A Special Thanks goes out to Great Western Electric for sponsoring this event. Albuquerque’s own, Danny Burson, comes into this race as the point’s leader over Bruce Yackey by 99 points. Bruce “The Moose” Yackey was the winner last time the USLMA’s came to Sandia Speedway. Will Danny be the first local driver to win the Salsa 100 after finishing second in September to Bruce?
The Modifieds will also be running the Hot Pepper 40. As the name suggests, it is a 40 lap feature with drivers joining us from other tracks including I-25 Raceway in Pueblo, Colorado. Our Car Crafters Modified drivers are very excited to put on a show for you. These high flying, open wheel stock cars push the limits of power and adhesion. Keeping these fast and furious drivers on the track with all that power pushes even the most seasoned drivers to the limit. Car Crafters owner and former IRL driver Jim Guthrie will present the trophy to the winner.
Cash and prizes are up for grabs. We have many give-aways for both drivers and fans. Prizes have been provided by Coach’s Chassis, Hoosier and Goodyear Tires, Young’s Trailers Sales, Budlong Motorsports, McCabe Motorsports, Genesis Motorsports, Circle Burner Race Cars, MorCo Batteries, Action Alignment, HOB Financial Services, NAPA and Monroe’s Restaurant.
For your entertainment, Salsa-Baby.com will be entertaining fans in the stands and on the midway. Make sure to pick-up some information on dances and dance classes that they offer. Garcia’s Restaurant has also donated salsa for the fans and drivers. If you don’t win some, make sure to purchase some before you leave.
