The Dirt Modified Fall Nationals at Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces this weekend is one of the biggest and best dirt track races in the country. Royal Jones, Jimmy Ray and the outstanding staff at SNMS are expecting over 100 Modifieds from all over the country for racing Friday night at 7:45, Saturday and Sunday at 2:00. Joining the Modifieds will be the very exciting Street Stocks and the Super Trucks as well as a regional Legends race. All three of these support divisions put on an excellent show of their own.
Here are a few of the drivers you can expect to see this weekend.
Las Cruces and El Paso will be well represented by the Jones family of Royal, Bumper and Holly from Las Cruces. El Paso will have the Barnett Bunch of Sherman Barnett ( 73 year old youngster ), Curt Barnett, Christy Georges and Illinois driver Denny Schwartz. Other top N.M. drivers will be Jammin Jimmy Ray,Jay Rosales, Fito & Jacob Gallardo, Stormy & Johnny Scott, Zane DeVilbiss, Josh Cain and manny others.
Other top contenders from Texas are, previous winner Monte Bolton along with Dr. Tom Georges, Neal DeBord, Phillip Houston, Alan Sharpensteen, and my personal pick to win, Happy Texas driver Rodney Sanders and others.
There will be a large contingent of top drivers from the frozen tundra of Minnesota along with several tough Mid-Western competitors and a couple of Californians:
Ron Jones - Princeton, Minnesota ( previous winner, always FAST )
Darrell Nelson - Hermantown, Minnesota
Jeremy Payne - Springfield, Missouri
Terry Phillips - Springfield, Missouri
Kellen Chadwick - Oakley, California ( making a great comeback after serious injuries )
Tyson Franks - Batesville, Arkansas
Payton Taylor - Batesville, Arkansas
Wayne Brooks - Bald Knob, Arkansas ( used to drive the UFO car )
Grant Junghans - Manhattan, Kansas ( flipped on frontstraight last time at SNMS )
Michael Marlar - Winfield, Tennessee
Jason Hughes - Colcord, Oklahoma ( a multi-time winner at SNMS )
This is just a few of the top drivers you can expect to see. There will be LOTS of heat races and C-Mains that will rival most A-Mains in the country as well as the edge of the seat excitement of B & A Main events. So even if you can't make all 3 days of racing the trip to Las Cruces is worth it if only for a day or two of FANTASTIC Dirt Track racing. The weather is expected to be near perfect with mid 70's during the day and mid 40's at night. Come on down to Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces and play in the dirt with some of the best.
Have A Great Day
God Bless Everybody
