I was just wondering what the fans thought. I didn't see what happened. I was certainly not trying to afix blame in any way. The two cars are very different, number 88 being an X mod (the Xmod champion in fact). The Xmods handle differently than the Sandia Mods on the pavement. I am on record as favoring mixed division racing when one division is low on cars and the dirt guys did a great job making the transition this year. Although Charlie Wilson didn't make it to victory lane himself, he DID get there with his 8 year old son CJ. CJ won the "Jalapeņo 12" for the Bandoleros. Congrats to Dan Alamaa for his win in the Hot pepper 40 and Danny (the Jet) Burson for being first in the Salsa 100. The hard luck award might go to Barry Conoyer. He traveled all the way from Mesa Az. to make one lap (one more than Charlie Daniels who went out with mechanical in practice) Lets face it though. Being a former resident of Mesa myself and neighbor (sorta) of Barry Conoyer, he was a winner just by escaping that 125 degree heat for a time. On the other hand, Dallas Glen was the long haul winner, fleeing 2 feet of snow or more in Billings Mt How about Circle Burner Race Cars. They donated 200 $5 gift cards at Sonic. I spent most of the intermission just going through the crowd passing them out to fans until the supply ran out. Things heated up in the midway thanks to Salsa-Baby.com's dancing. I hope you got your coupon for a free dance lesson but if not, just go see them, mention Sandia Motor Speedway and get a free lesson. Everybody got a free sample of Garcia's Kitchen Salsa and chips. Yummmm. And some lucky fans won jars of salsa. We gave away a shipload (spell check don't fail me now) of hats as well. Thanks to Danny Romero for those greatly popular Action Alignment hats, Carquest of Belen and Southwest Block too. Other very popular hats were the Joe Gibbs Racing hats. Have a great winter.... Remember to listen to "Weekends with Terrie Q Sayre" every Sat and Sunday morning from 7-10 on the Legendary Station of the year, 770 KKOB.
LET'S GO RACIN!!!!!!!
