USA Raceway No More?

Word is the track is in back in the hands of Pat and Lynn Robley and is to be renamed Tuscon International Raceway. Anyone have the inside scoop on this?

From what I was told yesterday by family who live in Tucson is it's all true. I think the name is awful and just rips off PIR.

Name doesn't matter as much as making sure it stays open. Last thing any of us need is to lose anymore tracks. It's a really nice place, not quite as nice as the one you all vacated but really nice.

Couldn't have been anywhere else really, as the word Facility was used, such a word makes me think of fixed toiletries, concession not on wheels, permanent lighting, announcers booth... you know the little things that you could live without, if you had no other choice.

Ha Ha... is that what HH stands for..lol.. Sorry, you all know what i meant. We just need for dirt track racing to live regardless of how nice or not nice the facilities or joints are. It's the same fun for we racers either way. We just need to take care of the crowds too and keep them coming. best of luck at Sandia on both dirt and that black stuff..

HH was a great facility, too bad they didn't have a Racetrack! They had all the Problems Sandia is having, including Concrete pipes that love to destroy Racecars!

Hollywood had some surface issues no doubt..
But I do remember about forty five consecutive shows where the track was smooth,wide,tacked up with a monster cushion at the end of the night.

But as they say..
One data point doesn't make a trend.

I have noticed the Casino has been advertising alot of stage shows at the casino on the radio as of late.
I wonder if they have a new management.

So which track was USA Raceway?
Is that the one promoted by Chubby and Skater boy?

Joe, I have raced a few laps around Sandia's dirt track and H.H. and I can't remember a single concrete pipe anywhere at either track, are you possibly getting your memories crossed with Duke City Raceway? They had concrete pipes, I know I hit one. H.H. had a wonderful flat concrete wall, and Sandia's dirt track has Highway dividers for a wall along with tires on the inside. Now granted both are concrete but neither could/would be able to be considered a pipe. Also I don�t recall many cars being destroyed by the walls as most were destroyed by �drivers� who forgot or forget when and where to turn, what a yellow flag means, or what is and what is not excessive rough driving, lot of cars tore up for coupons. Granted track conditions were never amazingly great and that helped, but to blame a pipe that isn�t there is like blaming Reagan and Bush for the countries current economic status� wait this is America your right about those pesky pipes Joe Joe!

Royal. I can honestly say i have never been disappointed with any of the races i have been to in Cruces. Weather it is a weekly race or or your special shows. Just keep the doors open for racers and fans.

Check that...it was Turn 2 where the track entrance was! Turn 2 loved to kill Race cars!

Joe, HHS had no concrete pipes off turn 2, just a line of jersey barriers, a gap, and then a very tall wall that bit a lot of drivers drifting too high off the corner.

Seems like...
Every year about this time..the rumors of HHS reopening start to permeate.
Guess the fact that there's been some work done to the facility..fuel the speculation.
With Sandia only having 8 dates this summer,a few specials at HHS would sure dovetail nicely...
Still remember the line of haulers 2 wide stretching all the way back to the casino,every Saturday afternoon...good times.

Doubt anything happens...but,
With Casa Grande set to reopen this spring,under the old management team..
I've learned my lesson about saying "never" when it comes to auto racing...and shuttered tracks.

I haven't heard anything about HH opening. It was a really nice place though. Yes USA is Tucson, now called tuscon International raceway or something. They just canceled the WOO race on March 3rd, so I guess you will just have to come to the Meltdown. darn it..
And one more clarification-- Chubby sidekick now runs Canyon in Phx and Skater boy runs CAR. (Casa grande) we also have a new manager at SNMS named Sarah Stevens. We have really cleaned up and painted up the stands area and look for good things this year. IN EP we have a new manager Gilbert Aranda. He is working with the folks at ft Bliss and also planning some concerts along with the races. Should be some good times and good racing at both facilities (joints- crap holes- places) this year. Hope you all can atten when possible.

Thanks Lancee and Chuck, and all who come down and help us keep it going. We are repainting and fixing up SNMS right now. It's really looking a lot better. Dean is putting some new clay on track for Meltdown and sprint race. Judy is Painting buildings and fixing up restrooms. Pete is planting flowers around the fence. JR Baxter made us a nice outdoor eating area just West of concession stand. Looks like a new place...
