Today I am experiencing something that I have not experienced in almost 30 years. I feel skinny! Not just that "I'm having a good day on the scale" skinny feeling. No, this is a "I am a thin healthy person" feeling and it feels great! I have finally come to the point where I no longer feel like a temporarily thin person that could spontaneously explode in fat after one bad week. This past year, with my knee replacement surgeries, returning to and active lifestyle and of course my beloved Cambridge, has finally delivered me to my ultimate destination. I feel like a million bucks! I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon on the 20th to see about the final step to completing my journey. Yes..I did get left with some redundant skin as most people do after losing extreme amounts of weight. Being 50 adds to that problem, but I am determined to see this through to completion and find a way to get it done. Not sure how that will happen with work and of course $$$, but where there's a will there's a way and I will find it.
For those of you that are just beginning your journey to health, get excited! This is the greatest thing you will ever do for yourself. There is nothing better then shedding an obese unhealthy body and stepping into a full active life. It is wonderful to be able to do what you want without having to first evaluate the situation to see if you will fit or if you have something to wear or if you will invite criticism or judgments or ridicule. Feeling healthy and confident is a combination that can't be beat! it's freedom!
If you have found yourself stuck right before the finish line and wondering why you just can't get across to your goal weight...and stay there...I have no magic words other then just make up your mind and don't waver. You MUST make this a complete lifestyle change. If you do not address all 3 areas, body/mind/ spirit you will not succeed. If something is in your way, look at those 3 areas and find the weak link. You will find your answer there.
I wish you all success and happiness. It can be a long road, but it is well worth the time and effort required. You will never regret the time you are taking for yourself right now, but you likely will if you don't.
