No, it does not make you selfish and yes, I had 3 servings a day and then just was very careful about the additional calories. No junk what so ever. I ate whole foods, nuts, veggies, protein, and whole grain. I did this with my doctor's ok. I think my one craving was carob coated almonds. I ate them by the POUND! It was a lot better then the greasy cheeseburgers I craved with my first. My doctor felt that I did not need the prenatal vitamins since I was already getting so much in the Cambridge, but that is something for you to discuss with yours. I was VERY healthy when I got pregnant with her since I had just lost 80 pounds previously on Cambridge.
As a mom that has dedicated her life for the past 30 years to raising my kids.. may I say one thing? Do not ever consider yourself selfish for wanting to take care of yourself or protect your health. I think it is a terrible mistake for women to believe that the only way to being a "good" mom is to be completely selfless and self sacrificing. Your life is important and takes second place to none. If you are not healthy you can't be the best mom anyway so priority one is your health and by taking care of that everyone else will benefit...and you won't forget who you are in the process.
