Awwww, thanks so much for asking, Carol! It was amazing! The last 3 miles were hhhhhaaaaard ha and I think I even got a bit of heat stroke, but we made it! MANNNNN, were we sore (Kevin too). We got to stay in a hotel suite free (from one of my wins!) and it was great to go in the pool and then have the comfy beds, etc.
We met a woman who does full marathons in every state and has done about 27 so far. There were lots of people carted off on stretchers by ambulances, and one woman came into the finish line right behind us (from the full marathon, not the half), SCREAMING and writhing around on the ground. They had three people carry her to the medic shack. Fun times... ha
We finished in 4 hours and 40 minutes, but we werent last! ha 4 people came in after us, in our category (which was the half marathon walking category). I have a full photo album if anyone wants to email me to see other pics, but I thought I'd put a few in here.
I got a few new injuries.. a black toenail, which the experts tell me will fall off.. but not hurt.. and this time the chafing under my bra. The farthest I had ever gone at once before was 8 miles, so sometime between the 8 and 13 miles is when the chafing and toenai happened I guess ha My knees, lower back,e tc. all hurt, but I'm used to that, and they're already better.
Thanks again for asking, and it was an amazing time!!!! now our next 5K (3.1 miles) on Halloween will feel like a piece of cake after doing 13.1 miles haha OH, AND the medals are really nice and heavy! I thought they'd be cheap, but they're really nice! I want more! haha (don't you love the saying on this sign I'm sitting in front of? :D)
now I'm going to start Cambridge again towards the end of this week for some SSing (now that the training is over for now). I'll start back swimming at the Y on Weds. and keep limber, then build up again, while doing Cambridge.
