Ok, I think I figured out how to post without tagging on to someone else. Sorry, but as I said I am not too savvy about message boards.
I wanted to introduce myself properly. My name is Donna, I am 38, 5'4" and diabetic. I have had a lot of health problems with my weight. I come from a family where everyone is at least 100 pounds overweight. Several of my relatives have had surgery, some lapbands and some bypass. Out of the 5 only one actually lost all her weight and has kept it off for 2 years now. Everyone else has had complications or gained it all back and then some. I can't believe that in spite of that they still keep telling me to do it! I have been reading a lot on Pam's website and have talked to her on the phone a few times and let me say this...if you are feeling hopeless or if you think you can't do anything to help yourself, CALL PAM! She is the most inspiring person I have ever met. She made me believe in myself again, or at least gave me the spark to believe. My success so far with the Cambridge Diet has taken that spark and made me realize that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. In 20 days I have lost 23 pounds. I can't believe it! The weird thing though is that my family is completely against it. They are actually telling me that I am going to harm my health! This is after they have suffered all sorts of complications and repeated surgeries and health issues from their weight loss surgeries. I have given up talking to any of them about it and I am just going to do this and prove to them that I can and that I am getting healthy. I do have a question though. When you are facing family celebrations and food will be all around you, how do you all handle it? I feel pretty strong that I can resist the temptations, but you can't imagine the spread that will be there! It is my grandmother's 85th birthday and this will be a family reunion of 3 days. I'm freaking out a little. Any ideas are welcome and if you have been on this diet and had something like this to deal with I would be grateful for any tips. Thanks

I spent a lot of time gathering motivational images from the internet while I was sick for so long, for the time when I got to take this up again. I have many to choose from, so I will try posting one to this response that might help you through the party....

Another thing you might try... I use an herb combination that really helps me to sole source. It's called "Goodbye Cravings," and you can get it on Amazon. It really helps with the weakness I get, the lightheadedness and feeling of starvation. You take it 1/2 hour before your Cambridge, and it helps me. All bodies are different, though, so I'm sure it's not for everybody. But it sure has been a godsend for me. Got more motivational posters if you want, too! Good luck! Yesterday was my 39th anniversary, and I thought it was gonna be a hard day, but it was really great, because I've been going through these posters a lot. If you want to look at them all, I can tell you my username on Pinterest--I have them on a board called "Motivation."
