if they really cancelled him, they had no plans of making him at all.... this is not a new thing for them
here are the steps:
1. Create Vaguely Interesting Dolls
2. Push known buttons to gather interest
3. Work with PR Firms to get people talking and "protest"
4. Generate interest in otherwise played out theme
seriously...he was the only thing interesting in the line....if he doesn't ever arrive, it's not because they actually planned to make him. it's because they needed some PR to sell a 180 buck non-articulated doll in a printed caftan....
