well for many years and find that the mediator of ebay or a professional website or blog solves this problem. I am sorry when I hear negative experiences, everyone has probably had them from both angles, selling and buying. There should be an escrow buying for the boards maybe. Good luck in the future. --Previous Message-- : I recently had some unfortunate experiences on : the board (the posts were done on both PP : and Doll Divas). : : The first was with someone who posted a doll : they had and a list of the dolls they were : looking for. I e-mailed them because I had : one of the dolls on the list that they said : they would trade for. The person wrote me : and told me that they had paid $575.00 for : the doll they had so they would expect more : in trade. That evening when no trades came : through, this person posted that they were : going to sell their doll since no one would : trade. They wrote "I am only asking : what I paid - $425.00" So they told me : that they paid $575.00 and they posted on : the boards that they paid $425.00? While : people can ask any amount they want for a : doll or ask anything in trade, it bothered : me that this person gave me a different : quote than everyone else as to what he paid. : I guess he figured since he wasn't familiar : with my name on the board I was fair game. : : Then someone else posted he had items for : sale. I e-mailed the seller immediately and : asked if the item I wanted was still : available. I also posted on the board that I : was interested in the items (since this is : what I have seen others do). The seller : wrote back and told me the item WAS : available and asked where I was located. I : sent back my address, asked for him to : invoice me or send me his Paypal ID so I : could pay him. I waited for him to respond : and when I checked the board, I saw someone : else had posted after my post that they : wanted the same item I posted that I was : interested in. : : Well several hours later the seller writes : and tells me the item is "on hold" : but if he didn't receive payment in a few : days then he would contact me. So he said I : could buy the item then left me hanging, and : then wrote back that someone else was going : to buy it but if it didn't pan out then I : could have it? It was apparent the seller : decided it was ok to renig on his sale to me : since a "buddy" wrote that he : wanted the item. : : It was interesting because the second person : I actually wrote to about a year ago when he : was going through a rough patch and felt : other collectors were being unkind to him (I : sent him a note of encouragement). He : doesn't know I am that same person as I am : not a familiar name on the boards. It's : ironic that he would turn around and behave : the way he did with me. : : Fortunately this hasn't been my regular : experience on the boards, usually everyone : is really great. I've been blessed to meet : some very nice people online (and actually : met some in person). These people have made : my doll collecting so much more fun. : : I don't post often but I wanted to share : what happened, maybe someone will see : themselves and rethink the way they treat : those who are responding to them. I don't : think they would like to be on the receiving : end of their own behavior. : :
