I was good to see Dick and Mike at my church last Sunday. I often wonder how the family is doing. It was a little surreal having them in the next room though. Like I told them, I am the Sr. High Sunday School teacher and the last two Sundays I showed Tyler's documentary. It fit in with our lesson on keeping your eyes on God and trusting him even when you are up against horrible odds. The lesson had considerable impact! Some of the youth advisors are requesting that I present the lesson to the youth group and possibly having several area youth groups come to hear it too.
I think God had a mission for Tyler. Tyler was always an incredible influence on the lives of everyone he knew but there were limitations that come with a physical existence to how far-reaching he could be an influence and fulfill his mission. It seems terribly unfair to our aching hearts that he died so young but he is NOT gone! He is with us still and now he can be with so many more as well. I know that it is a bittersweet consolation...
