I'm a few days behind so I thought I'd start another thread. That certainly sounds like an interesting bet. If anything, it at least assumes that Johnson won't get a career threatening injury.
I love Akram. He was a king and a bowling master. I just remember watching him as a kid and being in awe at how dangerous he was. Now Johnson; he has been coming along nicely over the last few years. He toured the WI last year and the worry was that he may have plateaued a bit. He stepped it up an notch when SA toured Australia but wasn't the bowler we've recently talked about. After the SA series in Aus, Mr. Cooley took him down to the nets one night and taught him how to bowl the inswinger and a viscous bouncer.
Johnson in SA was awesome. They parked the ambulance outside the ground to take SA's wounded batsmen away. For the first time ever, Kallis looked like he was shitting himself. Johnson has stepped it up a notch as a bowler.
Conditions permitting, he will bowl some fiery spells in England. I just hope he continues with his great form to put his mark on the world and become the sort of bowler world cricket has missed for many years. Johnson can bat as well. A game breaking ton in SA was a sight. Lillee unearthed him a few years ago and heralded him as a once in a generation bowler. Time will tell.
