Hear hear, the buck really should stop with the Umpires as the sole adjudicators of how the game progresses out in the middle.
To be fair, I don't think Ponting actually does give a rats about the whole issue, as far as he is concerned he knows they should have taken the last wicket, end of story. Situation reversed it's hard to imagine any team not employing similar tactics (perhaps not to the extent of unsolicited physios though!).
I dislike Ponting as much as the next non-ozzie, but I think he only really used it, (when prompted remember), as a bit of gamesmanship to stir things up a bit as any captain worth his salt does when they have to face endless media circuses.
