Similar story; The 2s batted first against a Lohana side who thoroughly deserve their formidable league position; they're a Div 2 side going straight back up.
The GPO played it's usual tricks; plenty of surprise bounce and the Lohana openers bowled intelligently on it: less pace, more control. Their first change bowlers brought some swing and dramatic spin into the attack and The Plough were all out for under 80, a total the oppo were able to knock off for the loss of one wicket despite some fine bowling from Smash and Tim Orr.
A drubbing, certainly but taken in good humour. The opposition were a pleasant enough bunch (though a class above us, I think, if we're honest) ,the sun shone and cold drinks were enjoyed after the match.
The Sunday side played a tight, good-spirited friendly against Roehampton Bats in scorching weather and were just on the wrong side of a result, losing by a mere 8 runs, chasing 179. Highlights included Lal's 49* and runs for A-rat and Tom Lockhart, I think.
Lal also took 4 wickets with the rest being shared between Smash, Boydy and Reedy. Also making his Ploughman's debut was Lal Jr, age 10, who showed promise in a controlled over with the ball.
Fielding was capable and energetic, despite the heat and the afternoon was largely fun, the result notwithstanding.
With apologies for contributions I may have forgotten.
