I'll give the Sunday report.....
roehampton turned up at 12:00 on the dot and started using the slips cradle, while we were still breezing in. i thought 'hang on. they look a bit serious!?' We bowled 1st. openers (me and scoops) bowled a containing spell but couldn't remove the openers.. Change bowlers came on and took wickets - Lal 4, Reedy 2 and Boyd 2 - but also went for some runs. i took a couple at the end and they were all out for 178. lal's son, Nikel (not sure about the spelling) fielded for us and got an over as well. great to see a father-son Ploughmans combo.
tea was, as always, a highlight of the day.
Tom lochart and Nass got us off to a cracking start, particularly Tom who smashed them around. After they fell Tom Tearle and A-rat came in and stemmed the loss of wickets. Lal came in and batted really well - top scored with 49 n.o. Scooops was out trying to up the run rate. i cam in with about 40 needed off 5 overs. lal and I upped it for a few overs but I holed out to mid off. jacko and lal couldn't quite get us over the line. i think it was 18 required off the last over. we fell 9 short in the end but it was a good, close game played in the right spirit. really good oppo and definately one to keep for next years fixtures. they even bought in the flags and helped us clean up!
