Having read Smash's report the 1st's match i'm not too sure my match report will be so so good but i will try.
As with the 1's game the early start did confuse a few but everyone except Jacko were there on time although he was'nt too late and as a lot of you would have gathered by now it was worth the suspense he kept us in as to whether he would be turning up or not but he did. The oppo skipper and I went out and flicked the coin and bugger me i called wrong. Those that have had the fortune of being there when the coin has been tossed will know that i have not called too many wrong this season but hey... Anyway the oppo skipper decided to field which left me with the decision of who do i turn to open. After looking around i came to the conclusion it would be Leon and Rob Keogh who reluctantly but willingly agreed. Pheww! Now who do i put at 3? Well i've had a certain Rohit, who all season, has been knocking on the door so why not. Puff at 4 and myself at 5. Right, we go out to bat and we have an ok start until the 6th over when Rob K. flashes at one outside off and flashes hard but they have a fielder in deep gully who takes the catch which should have otherwise gone to the boundary but... In goes Rohit with instructions of 'do not do your leg paddle shot'. To Rohit's credit he avoids that shot for a while but he did attempt it on occasions. He and Leon are now attempting to rebuild the inning's. As much as Rohit tried to run Leon out (only kidding) he did not succeed. Leon, maybe the fact that he had bought his other half along to watch, was going along really well at the other end. Then Rohit played his paddle shot a little too much it led to his dismissal. Rohit did stay out there with Leon for a fair while and knocked up 21 so well done to him. In step's Puff. Slightly short lived he is dismissed edging outside off. Is this the Ploughman's collapse? Meanwhile Leon is still at the other end plodding on still impressing hi other half. I then go out with us slightly shaking on 61/3 and thinking bollock's. Leon and I then go on to put on one of our stand's again following from our 90 odd stand from a few weeks ago. We stay together for 59 runs giving their bowler's something to worry about. We stayed together for 13 overs until the 35th over when Leon, who looked pretty solid, drove one quite firmly but the oppo had a fielder placed there who took the catch. Bugger! Perhap's it was my chat with Leon in the middle about giving this one bowler too much respect.Leon makes a very good 36. Oh well. In step's Jacko. Solid start from him blocking well. I continue to push for run's but eventually drag one onto my stump's. I am out for 36 in the 39th. Thing's starting to look a bit shaky. But i should'nt have worried with Jacko out there. He was awesome. He struck some mighty blows. Two huge sixes which would have cleared the pavillion at G.P.O. and some excellent shot's to the boundary for four's. You had to be there to see the 'Weapon' in force. Awesome! He had good support from the lower order boy's in particular Boydie till the end. Boydie you did excellent mate you backed Jacko really well mate well done. I, whilst umpiring, was about to declare thinking we had completed 54.5 but was wrong we still had 1 over to go for that and Jacko was approaching his 50 so ew stayed out there until 54.5 overs eventually. Lone man standing Jacko finsihed on 42 not out deserved a fifty. Well done mate. We finished on 198 all out in 55th over. Excellent. I think the oppo were a bit surprised and shocked and i knew that from there body language. So after the tea interval we go out. I had made my mind up i was going to be aggressive with the field placing's. No easy run's as far as i was concerned. The oppo were not prepared for the awesome bowling that they were about to face. Puff and Scotty. Demon bowling from these two. Puff, pacey and accurate, Scotty pacey, pacey, pacey and accurate. Those boy's just did not know how to handle him. I was loving it. Scotty first ball was a wicket plum LBW. Awesome! I think word spread amongst the oppo to make sure they wore a helmet when coming out! I was loving it (did i say that already?). You had to be there to watch this and I WAS. Wickets were tumbling . This gave me the opportunity to have 5 slips, fine leg, third man, gully and only two men in the outfield on either side on an oufield which was very quick but the batsmen just could not hit the ball off the square. The only place they were hitting the ball to was edging it to slips. Now, we did drop a few catches is why we were out there for as many overs as we were. We faced a bit of resistance from their last pair but our own fault there as we dropped the same batsmen about 2/3 times but... Scotty finished of with figures of 15.4 overs 84 run's and, wait for it,8 wickets. F***king brilliant! And excellent support from Puff - 14 overs 58 run's and 2 wickets. We finished off the oppo in 31.4 overs with Rohit bowling a couple of overs. They mangaged to score 165.
I can't say more about this performance from each and everyone. Awesome! If i have missed out anything i apologise, please feel free to add. It's an honour to have skippered you guy's!
